Former rock star picks up paintbrush

Published on: 11-Jan-2008
Former Terrorvision rock star Mark Yates has swapped the guitar for a paintbrush.

After many years of success with the Bradford-based band, which split up in 2001, re-formed and then disbanded again 'finally' in 2005, Mark is producing some original artwork on to canvas and wood.

Using the basement of his Bradford home, which he has converted into a studio, he is also putting some of his own prints on to canvas and Perspex.

Yates was originally trained as a graphic designer when he left school before achieving fame as a guitarist with the Brit Rock band.

He told the Telegraph and Argus newspaper: "I find painting, like music, has no boundaries and is another way of communicating and it's a great way of expressing myself creatively."

Yates' work is being displayed at The Saatchi Gallery online, at the Heart Gallery in Market Street, Hebden Bridge and at Masserella Fine Art in Saltaire.

Terrorvision achieved their breakthrough UK singles chart success in 1993 with the re-release of My House, which preceded their highly successful album How to Make Friends and Influence People.
