Jackson being friendly

Landscape artist, Kurt Jackson, is putting his money where his paint is and donating the proceeds of a picture sale to Friends of the Earth.

The painter is going to give money raised from the sale of his work at a forthcoming exhibition in London's Messum's Fine Art Gallery.

He is keen to help the planet-preserving organisation in its work as he has been a member since his teens.

One area he would like to see the charity supported is with a strong climate change law.

"The bill is vital to our environmental heritage but it needs to be strengthened if it is to protect our landscapes from the dangers of climate change," he told the ethical lifestyle magazine, New Consumer.

Mr Jackson, who regularly paints out on the Cornish cliff tops, weighs his large canvases down with granite boulders.

He explains that working in an outside environment has had the effect of fine tuning his senses to climate pattern changes affecting our surroundings.

Friends of the Earth is a highly effective green pressure group involved in many environmental improvement campaigns around the world, including highlighting the damaging effects of global warming.
