In-vogue interior designer Bernard Carroll has gone psychedelic with his latest creation. He was asked by owner Mark Andrews to design the inside of a new bar opening in Manchester called the Walrus and has used 1960s-inspired colour themes together with contemporary materials as his template.
The Walrus, situated in the Northern Quarter, is the latest bar to be designed by Carroll who has also renovated celebrity hangouts like the Panacea, Sugar Lounge and Ampersand.
It has a multi-coloured sixties-style wallpaper, white plastic and leather seating and rubber flooring.
Carroll told the Manchester Evening News newspaper: "I wanted something that was funky and contemporary and fitted in with the Northern Quarter.
"I was at art college when psychedelia and pop art was happening and I've always been a huge fan I wanted to use that but still give it a contemporary feel."
Mr Andrews gave him some freedom with the design concept and he was told to "have some fun with it".
The expression 'yeah baby, yeah', comes to mind.
