Llewelyn-Bowen 'toughest task' yet

Floppy-haired flamboyant Welsh interior designer Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen has admitted that doing up his own house was his "toughest task" yet.

After selling his London home for £1.4 million, Llewelyn-Bowen, 42, his wife Jackie and two daughters, Cecil and Hermione all decamped to their new country pile in Gloucestershire.

Jackie found the 17th century, grade II listed property which they bought for £1.3 million but it was up to him to do the makeover.

He ended up designing everything from the wallpaper to the light-fittings.

The Changing Rooms star said that it was his hardest job so far because it was "his money, his family and his home".

The result was a typical Llewelyn-Bowen over-the-top design which included stag antler wall lights.

In an interview with Hello magazine, the Llewelyn-Bowens agreed that it was not "an easy ride" for them as a couple.

"It's one of those opportunities to change things that haven’t been right in the relationship," Laurence said.

Laurence graduated from the Camberwell School of Arts and Crafts and has worked for interior design firm Peter Leonard Associates.

He went on to start his own design consultancy before finding fame as a TV presenter.
