Tuscan interior comes to California

Published on: 14-Nov-2007
An elegant Tuscan-style makeover of a Californian hotel is set to wow the locals.

The Villa Florence, set in the heart of San Francisco's fashion and shopping centre, Union Square, has been renovated using a mixture of contemporary and old world classic Italian design as a template.

The impressive foyer has polished terrazzo floors with creamy white walls and decorative wrought iron panels.

Villa Florence is furnished throughout using fabrics and furniture inspired by famous Italian fashion designers such as Valentino, Armani and Loro Piana.

Lead designer on the makeover, Georgie Keller, told web magazine PR-Inside.com: "These special touches bring about a feel of old Italy while the design of the chandeliers, wall sconces and furniture speak to crisp modern Italian design."

The colours, according to Ms Keller are trying to replicate the "reflections of a warm sunny day in Tuscany".

Any descendants of the Woodstock generation still living in the area would surely put flowers in the designers' hair.
