Hidden soundtrack in Leonardo painting
Published on: 12-Nov-2007
Leonardo Da Vinci's famous depiction of the last supper is hiding a musical soundtrack. That is the amazing conclusion reached by Italian computer technician and musician, Giovanni Maria Pala.
He claims, in an interview with the Associated Press news agency (AP), that within the canvas of the famous painting, musical notes were encrypted adding a new dimension to the masterpiece.
Mr Pala, in a soon to be released book, says that by following the loaves of bread, hands of Jesus and the Apostles, he could construct discernible musical notes
.
When played back on a pipe organ, he said, the music sounds like a requiem.
Although the theory sounds far-fetched credence has been added by Alessandro Vezzosi, a Da Vinci expert.
He told AP he had not seen Pala's research but the hypothesis was "plausible" because the artist was also a musician, although he did warn: "There's always a risk of seeing something that is not there."
Analysis of the last supper seems to be on the increase after the Da Vinci Code book whipped up interest in the painting.
