Interior designer to sell art-deco house

An interior designer is selling a unique waterside art-deco house. The £800,000 property, in a row of homes once owned by author Noel Coward, is barely discernible against the chalk cliffs of Dover.
It sits right on the edge of the English Channel only accessible along a narrow, often windswept lane, which snakes its way down to the shingle beach at St Margaret's Bay.
The owner, Nicki Spice, talking to the property website propertyinvest.com, described how the house is hidden behind large wooden gates and whitewashed walls.
She said it could only be truly appreciated when viewed from the sea.
"There's always something happening here," she said. "You are near the ferry port so there are always ships, cruise liners and in the summer lots of yachts one night I counted 36 vessels from my drawing room window."
The house, Mermaid Cottage, has a New England feel with whitewashed tongue and groove boards studded by mirrors to make the most of the light and views.
Beach-loving property owners include ex-Beatle, Paul McCartney.
His house, where he used to live with wife Heather, is situated on the waterfront near Brighton.
