A number of artworks by acclaimed graffiti artist Banksy will be put up for auction this week.

London based auction house Bonhams will give the public the chance to bid on ten original Banksy pieces which could fetch a total of more than £300,000.

Commenting on the mysterious artist, Gareth Williams a picture specialist at Bonhams said: "It is the rarity factor that sells Banksy's works. He is the artist of the moment."

He added: "The market is very receptive to his works and prices have sky-rocketed in a short space of time.

"His works are what people want and we're hoping that this collection will do very well."

Banksy's Avon and Somerset Constabulary piece is set to be the most expensive and is expected to fetch between £60,000 and £80,000.

In April a Banksy artwork, featuring a chimp, was sold for £198,000 at auction.
