A series of highly regarded artworks competing for the coveted Turner prize are set to be unveiled in Liverpool.

The Albert Dock based Tate Liverpool will be the home of four short listed works, which range from light bulbs to an artist wearing a bear suit.

Proud to be hosting the exhibition as part of the Capital of Culture season, Laurence Sillars, curator of the gallery, said: "The Turner Prize is always incredibly important in terms of capturing the best of contemporary art in Britain and around the world today. It always raises debate."

And shortlisted artist, Nathan Coley, told the BBC: "Although it is a big step to move the prize away from London, I'm excited about a new audience seeing my work."

The exhibition begins today (October 19th) and runs until January 13th, the winner will be announced on December 3rd.

Previous winners of the prize include Damien Hirst and Anthony Gormley.
