A group of budding young artists have been visiting their local beauty spots to gain inspiration.11-year-old pupils from Hasting Hill Primary School, Sunderland, have been to the Sunniside gardens to help gleam ideas from their surroundings and gain tutelage from local experts.
As part of a new £2 million art and nature project the outdoor space will employ ten resident artists to encourage visitors to turn their hand to creating masterpieces.
Commenting on the scheme, Bill Harris of Assign, an art-based group involved with the project, said: "It's such an exciting opportunity to be involved in the national Big Draw campaign and we are extremely grateful to Sunniside Partnership for funding this project and to Social Enterprise Sunderland for its continued support."
He added: "We wanted to create an artistic response to what we feel it has brought to this important part of the city."
