A Norfolk woman was stunned to find that she had been left a series mysterious paintings as part of an inheritance.Maureen Spinks received three paintings, depicting scenes from her local region, and discovered they were the work of little known artist Percy Lionel, the Norwich Evening News reports.
Commenting on her inheritance, the 52-year-old told the publication: "It is most intriguing as to who this person is, it has become a real mystery because despite all my attempts, I have not been able to find anything else about the painter, which in a way has made me more determined to discover something about him."
Recently, another untraceable artist wowed the residents of a Cumbrian village by creating an anonymous work of art.
The painter created his work over the boardings of an abandoned pub that villagers had complained was an eyesore.
Cllr Isa Henderson told the Nelson Leader: "Someone took it upon themselves to do something about it. I'm quite sure it was a protest against the boards and I would like to thank whoever it was."
