Saatchi artwork goes under the hammer

A number of artworks from the collection of Charles Saatchi are due to go up for auction in London.

Pieces from his celebrated selection will go under the hammer on the October 13th as part of the Frieze Art Fair.

Works by luminaries such as Martin Kippenberger, Wilhelm Sasnal and Cecily Brown will all be up for sale through the Phillips de Pury & Co auction house.

Commenting on the collection, auction house chairman, Simon de Pury said: "Saatchi has developed the most successful art site in existence and we have an alignment of interests in cutting-edge contemporary art."

Phillips value Kippenberger's 'Paris Bar', painted in 1993 at £300,000 and Brown's 1999 piece 'Night Passage' is expected to fetch £400,000.

Recently, Adam Morrigan, a road-kill artist whose works include dead rabbits, fox skins and frogs decided to put his artwork up for auction.

The controversial priced some of his work at a value of £2.5 million.
