An Ayrshire artist has converted his gallery into a mass tribute to his friend, mime legend Marcel Marceau.Gordon Cockburn has decked his Maybole gallery in a series of paintings of his pal, who he was due to visit just days before his death, icAyrshire reports.
"It's my one big regret that I didn't get to see him again before he died," the artist told the publication.
"We first met in the 70s when I had requested his permission for copyright to do paintings and kept in touch ever since."
He added: "I even got the chance to personally sketch him as he practiced his mime routines at his home in Paris."
And commenting on his friendship with the mime artist, he continued: "It was great that we were able to keep in touch through the years and Im glad that he will be remembered so fondly - New York have a Marcel Marceau day, for example.
"He was an artist in his own right and I'm proud to say I knew such a great man."
