A collection of pieces by graffiti artist Banksy are expected to fetch in excess of £1 million as they go under the hammer later this month.

Auction houses across the country will be selling the artworks including Kids on Guns which could fetch £30,000, Rat with Roller which is expected to sell for £80,000 and The Rude Lord, which Sotheby's have valued at £200,000, Bloomberg reports.

Commenting on the financial draw of the anonymous artist, Cheyenne Westphal, Sotheby's European contemporary art chairman, told the broadcaster: "A lot of people bought these pieces early on for little money.

"They're selling because it's a big down-payment for a mortgage.'

Recently, Banksy was caught up in controversy after employees of a company that deals with his work, Pictures on Walls, admitted to selling fake Banksy 'originals' on eBay at artificially high rates.

Directors of the firm have urged any buyers who think they may have fake prints to contact them as soon as possible.
