Teenage angst depicted on canvas

Published on: 18-Sep-2007
Bolton Museum is set to display a series of artworks depicting life as modern teenager.

The exhibition, which is part of the Youth Work 4 Health programme, will display pieces on issues such as sex, drugs and street violence, The Bolton News reports.

All the works have been completed by local artists, aged between 13 and 17, who were trained for three months and viewed popular artworks to gain inspiration.

Clearly pleased with the effort of the young painters, Cllr Ismail Ibrahim told the publication: "Those delivering this project found art to be a very interesting way to engage young people in some very difficult, salient and thought-provoking issues.

"Everyone is delighted by the dedication the young people have shown throughout the duration of this project."

Meanwhile, Sussex county officials decided to paint a giant mural over a Brighton eyesore in an attempt to bring art to the masses and combat the area's problem with vandalism.
