Secret artwork wows residents

A mysterious painter has wowed the residents of a village in Cumbria by creating an attractive work of art over the boardings of an abandoned pub.The unknown artist, who completed the work in the middle of the night, is thought to have taken action on behalf of the residents, upset at the eyesore that the disused drinking establishment had become, the Nelson Leader reports.
Cllr Isa Henderson, told the publication: "There were a lot of concerned people in the village who were appalled to see the pub boarded up.
"We felt there must have surely been other ways to protect your property, so it didn't look quite so unsightly in the centre of a very attractive rural village. I even contacted the police but there had been no vandalism reported."
She added: "Someone took it upon themselves to do something about it. I'm quite sure it was a protest against the boards and I would like to thank whoever it was."
Meanwhile, contemporary artist Jeff Gagliard has also turned heads by reproducing a number of classic art works using an Etch-A-Sketch.
