Classic becomes contemporary via Etch-A-Sketch
Published on: 13-Sep-2007
A painter has turned his hand to a new medium to reproduce a number of classic art works - the Etch-A-Sketch.Jeff Gagliardi has produced amazing copies of pieces such as Da Vinci's Mona Lisa, Van Gogh's Starry Night and Wood's American Gothic, the Daily Mail reports.
And the artist didn't think much of his talents - until people were more interest in his Etch-A-Sketch than his legitimate works of art.
He told the publication: "I did a drawing of the Taj Mahal complete with reflecting pools.
"Quite frankly, I didn't think it was a big deal, but my family wouldn't let me erase it," he said.
He added: "From that point on it became apparent that I had some sort of gift for drawing on this silly little toy.
"People would walk past the serious work I was doing as a painter and want to see the Etch-A-Sketches."
