Top Brit displays artwork abroad

British artist Sal Higgens has finally received the opportunity to proudly exhibit her artwork – in Auckland, New Zealand.

The 26-year-old oil painter left her home in Morden last year and her oil paintings have merited display at the Letham Gallery, yourlocalguardian.co.uk reports.

Sal, who finally feels like she has made a lasting breakthrough down under, described her paintings as: "Figurative works with expressive gestures and emotional moods using bright colours."

And despite her success abroad she maintains that she still loves England and her home town Morden, she told the publication: "It is quite close to my heart, with the beautiful summer days and everything.

"The amount of green space we have is quite unique. Everyone gets their individual space."

Admitting that she feels at home in New Zealand, she added: "There is a lot there - which has made me, feel quite at home, but with a bit more freedom because nobody knows you."

Meanwhile, three early pieces by John Constable will go under the hammer in London later this month.
