Three pieces of John Constable wall art will be auctioned in London this month and expect the fetch the owner more than £30,000.

The paintings are owned by a relative of the famous artist and were completed in the early stages of his career, the Suffolk Evening Star reports.

A Rider and Companion Crossing a Bridge, is the most valuable and is expected to fetch between £12,000 and £18,000.

The other works, A Mountainous Landscape and A River in a Hilly Valley, might go for up to £9,000 and £6,000 respectively.

A spokesperson for Bonhams told the publication: "Constable painted the three watercolours in his early twenties, at a time when he faced a crossroads in his life.

"He was still very unsure whether to become a professional painter or to take on his father's lucrative corn mill."

She added: "The paintings date from a time when Constable was still developing his technique, he had yet to acquire a concrete style and seems to have been influenced by other artists such as Ramsay Reinagle."
