An artist who specialises in watercolours of Scottish landscapes is set to unveil his finest work to the public.

Stuart Mingham, from Sutherland, will display 13 of best works at the Loch Croispol Bookshop and Restaurant at Balnakeil Craft Village at Durness until September 24, reports thisisnorthscotland.co.uk

The 55-year-old has been a self-employed artist since 1999 and has been commissioned to create family portraits and properties, as well as completing more than 50 works illustrating Scotland's beauty spots.

Commenting on his desire for watercolour work, Mr Mingham simply said: "It is the time I spend alone in the mountains that recharges me and inspires me to paint."

Meanwhile, a piece of Australian canvas art, depicting Osama Bin Laden as Jesus, has caused major controversy.

The piece, which has been nominated for the prestigious Blake Prize, has even been denounced by prime minister John Howard who claimed it was "offensive".
