Celeb artwork up for postcard auction

Published on: 23-Aug-2007
Artwork by famous UK celebrities has been immortalised on a new range of postcards which will be auctioned for charity.

The doodles were part of the Campaign to Protect Rural England's 80th anniversary 'Postcard from Home' initiative, icWales.co.uk reports.

The sale is set to take place at Bonhams in Knightsbridge this week and contributors include Tony Robinson, Jon Snow and Chris Tarrant.

Celebrities were invited to express their fondness for the English countryside on a postcard with the responses ranging from the sublime to the ridiculous.

An inspired Jon Snow created a watercolour landscape for his postcard and Conservative leader David Cameron sketched the party logo.

Chris Tarrant drew a picture of himself enjoying a day out fishing while Toby Robinson doodled a turnip.

Contemporary artists also did their bit for charity with Rachel Whiteread, Sam Taylor-Wood and Mary Fedden all creating their own designs for the auction.
