A new exhibition by Tom Wilkes is to display prints from his illustrious career as a cutting-edge artist. The Grammy Award-winning artist will show off his unique art at Doc's Music Hall in downtown Muncie, according to the Muncie Free Press.
Among the highlights of the Classic Rock & Roll Art exhibition is a poster made for the Monterey International Pop festival in 1967. Wilkes will also show off some cover album art which he designed for George Harrison. The former Beatle eventually decided against the art, which seems to add to its appeal.
Wilkes is hoping to promote the sale of The Beatles' Peace to Monterey artwork, which is "the only known visual art ever created by all four Beatles".
"Hidden in a safe deposit box since Wilkes designed the [Monterey Pop program book] 40 years ago, it is believed to be the most valuable Beatles artefact ever," the Muncie Free Press observes.
The Beatles have long been inextricably associated with the art world and Sir Paul McCartney has revealed remarkable talents in the discipline over the years.
In 2002, Walker Art Gallery hosted the first comprehensive exhibition of his canvas art and he has since produced a number of other fascinating paintings.
