The blossoming interior design industry will gain new impetus in October with a high-profile competition in the US.

Architectural Digest, the world-renowned design magazine, is looking for the next big talent in the field of interior design.

Auditions for residential design professionals - and non-professionals - will take place across the country on October 11th and 12th, as innovative interior designers look to impress an esteemed panel of judges. It has been scheduled for these particular days to coincide with Decoration and Design (D&D) Building's annual Fall Market.

The winning project will eventually appear in the pre-eminent magazine, giving the designer a global audience and enhancing his of her reputation as a creator of funky interior design.

"I'm delighted to give anyone with a passion and a talent for design a forum to meet Architectural Digest editors face to face and show them their work," said Paige Rense, editor-in-chief of the magazine.

"Architectural Digest is always searching for new and innovative talent in design and architecture, and our sponsorship of the D&D Building's fall market is a perfect time and place to launch our nationwide search."

Ms Rense has invited those who wish to take part to bring photos of a completed residential project to the auditions. At least two shots of each of the major rooms in the residence are required, allowing the editorial panel to choose semi-finalists.
