Unique art exhibition honours Pink Floyd

The 40th anniversary of Pink Floyd's debut album 'The Piper at the Gates of Dawn' is to be celebrated in a unique art exhibition.

Taking place from November 19th until November 25th, the exhibition will draw on a range of influences from the period, reflecting "the mood of the swinging 60s".

Unique art enthusiasts can head to the Lennox Gallery in Fulham to enjoy the paintings, many of which capture the very essence of the groundbreaking album.

Jeff Ross, director of ArtVantage, said: "The paintings are seen from an alternative perspective where visions from Upanishads interweave themselves with Dylan Thomas' poetry and Albert Camus' existential The Myth of Sisyphus, along with literary works from poets/philosophers in a surreal blending of forms, colours and shapes."

Indian artist Samij Datta will be well represented at the exhibition, largely because many of his astonishing paintings are based on individual Pink Floyd songs.

By the Waters of Ganges is a particular highlight, with its subtle interpretation of Wish You Were Here.

Formed by Syd Barrett, Roger Waters, Rick Wright and Nick Mason, Pink Floyd remain one of the most important bands of the 20th century. The new art exhibition shows that their music is still hugely significant, even when represented in canvas art.
