Competition to judge contemporary canvas art

Maastricht will soon host a major interior design competition, where artists will show off their most innovative canvas art creations. The Great Indoors is an international, biennial festival and this year's event will take place between November 16th and 18th.
A jury of design professionals will award five prizes to some of today's most exciting interior designers, reflecting prevailing enthusiasm for canvas art and original wall art.
"By awarding prizes and hosting a conference and workshops, The Great Indoors hopes to promote a discussion on the growing importance of the interior throughout Europe and the world," a statement from the Netherlands Architecture Institute says.
"Recognising biennial developments and rewarding the best designs in various categories every two years are meant to lift interior design from its own disciplinary environment and to make it part of the public debate."
Prize money this year will total £34,000, which will act as a further incentive for those creating unique contemporary art for the home. The five winners and 20 other nominees will be featured in a catalogue next year, as part of the overall attempt to raise the profile of contemporary interior design.
