Legendary Italian interior design firm announces London expansion

Innovative Italian interior and furniture design firm Moroso has announced plans to open a dedicated London store within the next two years. The iconic firm began making sofas, chairs and other accessories in its home nation in 1952, but is currently only represented in London at a store it shares with Modular Lighting in the city's Centrepoint building. The company's display here features work by interior design luminaries including Ron Arad, Tom Dixon and Ross Lovegrove, and sells to the trade only.
Announcing the new opening, Frederick Kiehl, sales assistant at Moroso, said that the new store is likely to be designed by the firm's owner, Patrizia Moroso and its resident designer Marco Viola, and will also sell exclusively to the interior design industry, reports designweek.co.uk.
Kiehl also announced that the firm will be celebrating its existing London presence with an official launch party on September 18th - despite the fact this is nearly 18 months after the store actually opened.
"We started Moroso daughter company Moroso UK almost from scratch in May 2006, and felt we needed time to become established in the market," he said. "Now that business is going well in the UK, we are ready for an official launch."
The London event will be held during the city's ten-day design festival and will see the Moroso showroom be opened to the public.
