Unique art event set to celebrate community spirit

A unique art event featuring 30 top contemporary artists is set to form a major part of a week-long celebration of the community spirit and heritage of the people of Peckham.As part of the I Love Peckham festival, taking place in the south London district from August 6th to 12th, 'I Love Peckham Shop Windows' will feature innovative and unique art ideas from 30 different emerging and established artists from different countries around the world.
Each artist has been assigned a shop window as part of the project, and will then be asked to produce a piece that is site-specific to the shop window in which they are displayed. Accordingly, among the wacky works that have already been confirmed will be a hair and beauty shop which is set to feature a giant hair sculpture and dog-grooming parlour with an on-site dog show.
Other events will see the region come alive with life, with a number of live music and dance performances, sports activities, markets and film screenings all variously set to keep both the people of Peckham and visitors to the special event well-entertained.
