More firms encouraged to pick up on office art innovation

The completion of a cool new redesign in Google's iconic London offices has added to the growing call for the use of more innovative ideas and unique office art to help make a work environment more welcoming.

Search engine giant Google has long been famous for its zany office atmosphere as a way for staff to become more creatively driven, and the new design by internationally-acclaimed firm DEGW even asked for individual worker ideas about how to further personalise their own work zones.

That has created a further office space with noisy areas as well as quiet ones, innovative seating solutions and unique office art.

"They want spaces that feel comfortable and non-corporate. It started off with a couple of boffins working in their den, and that's the homely feel they want," DEGW director of design Terry Gunnery told bdonline.co.uk of the Google office.

Thus in the move to make work places feel much more like home, many offices are now being encouraged to follow Google's example, using new office art and design ideas to make workspaces more friendly.

"People do want the ability to personalise. There's more of a need for choice over where they can work," Richard Beastall, principal of Bennett Interior Design, told desginweek.co.uk.
