A unique art experience involving 18 schools across Cornwall has helped to inspire youngsters in the area to develop their passion for the arts. The Arts Award is a nationally-accredited qualification which was launched by Arts Council England with the aim of using innovative and unique art experiences to inspire the development of young people through creative means.
The scheme has now been piloted across the south-westerly county by Creative Partnerships Cornwall and one local student, Dan Ponting, has spoken to the Arts Council website of how the improvement-through-art award has helped him.
"Taking part in the Arts Award has been a true pleasure and has given me the chance to develop my own leadership skills," said Dan, who used the scheme not only to complete his own coursework while studying at Bodmin College but also to launch an acclaimed community project which looked at celebrating his local area
"It has provided me further recognition for my artistic endeavours with the invaluable help, support and advice from inspirational artists and professionals," Dan added.
"It really has been fun!"
