Intricate interior design is latest in hotel cool

An innovative new hotel concept with the most intricate of interior design furnishings and fittings has opened its doors to the public at Gatwick Airport's South Terminal.

The new Yotel is the brainchild of Simon Woodroffe, the man behind popular micro-food chain Yo! Sushi, and takes its interior design inspiration from Japanese capsule hotels and first-class aircraft cabins.

Yotel comes complete with 46 cabins in a choice of either premium or standard class, with both offering space for two people to stay the night, luxury bedding and in-built wall entertainment systems.

"Travelling can be a painful experience so we are looking to make it as pleasurable as possible for Yotel customers," said Mr Woodroffe.

"We expect this radical approach to be extremely popular with a range of consumers and are looking to expand Yotel globally."

A second Yotel is already in development at Heathrow Airport and will open later this year, while plans are also in place for further branches across UK and international flight terminals.
