A London Transport employee is to feature in a piece of contemporary art as part of Transport for London's Platform for Art project.John Hough, who is Wembley Park station supervisor, has been immortalised in a piece of wall art, which will be printed on Tube maps across London.
The 64-year-old was chosen to sit for the contemporary art piece because he is the longest-serving member of staff working on the Underground network.
Created by Turner Prize winner Jeremy Deller, the portrait is a line-drawn likeness on canvas, incorporating red, blue and yellow as well as grey and white.
Mr Hough said that he was "extremely proud" to have been given the honour of appearing on the Tube map, which are available at all of the capital's Underground stations.
"It's a fairly spectacular thing to have occurred in my life because there will be five million printed," he told the Irish Post.
