From mobile doodle to canvas art

Published on: 27-Jun-2007
As increasing numbers of people seem to find themselves unable to go anywhere without their mobile phone, handsets are no doubt considered more of an accessory than a piece of art.

But one artist has found a way to turn his idle doodlings on his mobile phone into truly spectacular pieces of canvas art, the Metro reports.

Allan Paris, an art lecturer, realised he could create canvas art using the touch-screen facility on his mobile phone, by emailing his design to his PC.

He then printed the image out to create a large piece of canvas wall art.

"I discovered the technique when I got a new phone," Mr Parris told the Metro. "It had a touch screen, which is really a jotter facility for people to take notes on. I layer colour over colour using the smallest pencil that I can find."

Having already sold 15 pieces of wall art, he added that both he and other people were excited about the idea's potential.
